Tyco Electronics Supports “Home Away From Home” for Families of U.S. Armed Forces

|
Thanks, in part, to a $25,000 donation from Tyco Electronics, U.S. military families will soon find a new home away from home at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina USA. The donation will help build new Fisher House. The Fisher House program builds "comfort homes" on the grounds of major military and veterans medical centers, allowing family members to be close to a service person hospitalized for an unexpected illness, disease or injury. Siemens Selects AMP NETCONNECT Products for Facility in Pune, India

Siemens PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D), serves leading manufacturing enterprises from such industries as automotive and transportation, machinery, aerospace and defense and numerous small- to mid-sized businesses. Their new facility located in Hinjwadi, Pune, India was designed to accommodate up to 1100 employees. After evaluating shielded cable solutions, unshielded cable solutions, the 10 Gigabit per second standards & the available warranties, Siemens selected the AMP NETCONNECT 10 G shielded cabling solution for the facility data center. Additionally, Siemens selected redundant AMP NETCONNECT MPO fiber backbones and AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 structured cabling solutions for the data & voice networks. The selection of these products enabled the project to satisfy the bandwidth-hungry data center applications and to meet the critical deployment timelines required by a migration from the existing to the new network.

MRJ21 Link Certification Results Available

ETL completed third-party certification testing on MRJ21 products in multiple configurations. These summary test reports document the performance testing of cabling configurations as defined in, and to the requirements of, ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.1 for Category 5e Cabling Systems. The popular Tyco Electronics AMP NETCONNECT LAN Standards Update series continues with the posting of the February 2008 Update. The presentation offers a quick review of the Tampa meetings of TIA TR-42, User Premises Telecommunications Cabling Infrastructure. Topics include 568-C (including ballot comment resolution on 568-C.0, Generic Cabling, and on 568-C.1, Commercial Building Cabling), Addendum 10 on Augmented Category 6 (Category 6a), the project to revise the bonding and grounding standard as well as updates on events in IEEE (including the Higher Speed Task Group). Herb Congdon, Systems Market Manager for Tyco Electronics AMP NETCONNECT, was unanimously re-elected Chair of the TIA TR-42, User Premises Telecommunications Cabling Infrastructure formulating committee. The merger of TR-42 with FO-4, the Fiber Optics formulating committee, was also completed making Herb the Chair of the merged formulating committee. The TR-42 formulating committee continues work on several projects, including publication of the new Augmented Category 6 standard (Addendum 10 to TIA-568-B.2), publication of the Optical Fiber Cabling Components Standard (TIA-568-C.3), balloting of TIA-568-C.0 (Generic Cabling Standard), balloting of TIA-568-C.1 (Commercial Building Cabling Standard), balloting of TIA-1005 (Industrial Cabling Standard) and several other projects. Herb was also elected Vice-chair of TR-42.8, the Optical Fiber Cabling Components Subcommittee.
