Tyco Electronics Drives Solid Service Delivery for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas
Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas (BBBSNT) is a volunteer organization that provides children support, guidance, friendship and fun by matching them to adult role models. This agency recently completed a headquarters move which enabled it to consolidate facilities and operations. Sean Ryan, Director of Information Systems for the BBBSNT, notes, “When planning for the new building, we knew we were going to be there for many years to come. Our agency is a sophisticated IT user and we are very technology-reliant.” Kenny Raissifar of Terra-Net Communications, Incorporated, an AMP NETCONNECT Network Design and Installation (ND&I) contractor, helped Sean choose among structured cabling solutions for the new facility. BBBSNT chose AMP NETCONNECT XG Shielded copper for their new facility backbone. Sean notes, “I know the XG Shielded solution is a little more advanced than today’s Cat 6, and that it costs more to do Cat 6A, but I think we made a good value decision.
XG Shielded gives us the infrastructure to deliver the services we’ll be providing 10 years from now. In fact, we already started driving audio and video within 60 days of the install, because we know we have the cabling backbone to do so. I’m glad we made the decision to do Cat 6A. We can work with Tyco Electronics for the long haul, and that means something to us. "
