is the largest business unit of Tyco International Ltd. Headquartered
in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA, it is the largest passive electronics
components supplier in the world, and a leading supplier of active
components – optoelectronic components, RF/microwave semiconductors,
hybrid circuits and micromodules. Tyco Electronics provides advanced
technology products from its AMP, Elcon, Elo Touchsystems, HTS,
M/A-COM, Madison Cable, OEG, Potter & Brumfield, Raychem, Schrack,

and more, the AMP, M/A COM, OEG, Potter & Brumfield, Raychem and
Schrack brands encompass connectors, interconnection systems,
application tooling, CPU and memory device sockets, printed circuit
boards, cable, relays and circuit breakers, heat shrink products, wire
marking systems and circuit protection devices. Tyco Electronics’
M/A-COM unit is a leader in semiconductors, RF integrated circuits,
passive and control devices, antennas, subsystems and systems for
wireless communication. Elo TouchSystems unit engineers and produces
touchscreen components and systems using surface wave, resistive and
infrared technologies. Touchscreen products are found in point-of-sale
terminals, machine and process controls, ATMs and other applications.
Serving end-user industries such as energy, telecom & outside
plant, the AMP, Raychem, and Simel brands provide low- through
high-voltage terminations & joints, fiber-optic connections, and
fiber management systems. AMP Netconnect premises wiring systems
designs and manufactures end-to-end optical fiber and copper premises
cabling systems for local area networks.
Tyco Electronics Corporation was built on the foundation of AMP
Incorporated, as a result of the Tyco International Ltd. acquisition of
AMP in 1999. The company has grown quickly through both internal growth
and acquisitions of complementary products and technologies. The
products supplied by Tyco Electronics are hard to see, but are
virtually everywhere. They are used in cellular phones, communications
switching and networking equipment, computers, instrumentation,
industrial machinery, aircraft, defense systems, automobiles, household
